Studio Cloud Nine: How did it start?

Updated: Nov 22, 2020

Welcome to the Blog section, an area where I share my ideas and tips on how to make your home a more healthy space.

Below is a short little Q&A to get you acquainted with Studio Cloud Nine. Enjoy!

“I believe that everyone has the right to live in healthy dwelling spaces, regardless of their income level, and especially during these times of COVID and quarantine.”

What is Studio Cloud Nine?

Studio Cloud Nine is a platform I created that allows me to bridge my passions for healthy living, helping others achieve it, and residential architecture and design. Throughout my graduate studies, it became clear that spatial wellness really spoke to me because of how I see myself, the world, and the decisions that I make. Once I completed grad school, I knew I had to dive deeper into its technicalities and would eventually need to share my findings to the world. This was how Studio Cloud Nine was born.

What is the Studio's Mission?

I believe that everyone has the right to live in healthy dwelling spaces, regardless of their income level, and especially during these times of COVID and quarantine. In reality however, this is not the case, because wellness is often considered a luxury to have at home. This eventually made me realize that I had a mission: to make wellness in residential design feasibly accessible to everyone. This means that it does not matter if you are a student living in residence, a senior in housing, a young professional with a condo, or a family living in a house, everyone should be able to find an economic way to make their space more healthy for their well-being.

Why did you choose the name, Studio Cloud Nine?

The word cloud nine carries a few meanings for me. First, it refers to the sense of elation, a feeling that well-being can leave you with. Second, the cloud also refers to the technological hub in which smart technology syncs to, a medium that I intend on incorporating into my projects. Lastly, cloud nine is the title of a personal piece that I wrote a few years ago that talks about pursuing your dream, which I thought was appropriate in regards to this new endeavor.

What was your first project?

My first project spawned out of the renovation of my room during quarantine when I realized that I really needed a more comfortable indoor space. Also, winter is coming, and Toronto’s winters are long and harsh, which I have never been a fan of. I therefore needed to make sure that I was prepared this time and that my space provides me with comfortability, productivity and an elevated sense of well-being.

Is there anything that really inspired you for that project?

I was really inspired by the outdoors, which I guess was my internal pushback from being quarantined for so long. More specifically, I missed home in Southeast Asia, getting lost in the Mekong Delta jungles, and being stranded on an island with tropical foliage under warm weather. When my renovation was completed, I knew I had to capture its unique feeling and to find a way to share my spatial ideas with everyone’s dwelling as well.

“I offer clients a holistic design service as both a wellness consultant and an architectural designer.”

Why should I hire you?

I offer clients a holistic design service as both a wellness consultant and an architectural designer. We will work together to come up with a range of feasible design solutions by looking at your space from a variety of well-being perspectives. As a client, you can also tap into my knowledge and passions for food, fitness, plants, and artistic sensibility to help you redefine your new space. In many ways, we’re not only recreating your new space, but also a new lifestyle that is catered to your health and well-being needs. These are all the added value you get by hiring me!

What are your services and how are they broken down?

My consultation and design services are divided into two options: Option A, and Option B.

Option A: Basic Wellness

  • May require a small design service, where necessary

Option B: Optimized Wellness

  • Solutions will take longer as renovation of spaces will be required

  • Solutions will be more expensive
